Benchmark Vocabulary

Culture Trait  An activity or behavior in which people often take part.

Oligarchy  A type of government ran by a small group of people  Example – Communist countries like China

Culture Region  The area in which people have many shared culture traits.

Fossil Fuels  Non-renewable resources made from the remains of plants and animals.  Coal, Oil, and Gas

Cultural Diffusion  The spread of culture traits from one region to another.

Population Density  The number of people who live in a square mile

Culture Region  An area with similar cultural characteristics like language, religion, economics, food, etc.

Autocracy  A type of government run by one person.  Example – Dictatorships like Adolf Hitler

Physical Region  An area with similar physical characteristics like mountains, forests, deserts, etc.

Cultural Diversity  The state of having a variety of cultures in the same area.

Demography  The study of population

Monarchy  A type of government in which a person inherits power.
