Does it take into consideration the TWO-WAY COMMUNICATION in reports? Author has spent time and critical thought deciding on how the report affects the reader PREPARATION BEGINS WITH THE READER, NOT THE WRITER

Reader’s Viewpoint Homogeneity of group? Why do the people want the report? What do they expect in the report? What result do they want? What result do you want? Are they the same? What do you want them to do immediately? In time? Is accountability built in?

Check the reader’s viewpoint What kind of people are they? Gender? Age? Background? Section of the business? How well do you know them? What is their experience and level of knowledge with the material? Have you prepared in advance for their likely response and attitude? How will any changes affect them?

WRITING -- END GOAL Achieve a specific result based on your purpose Establish a comfort level for you and your reader.
