Power consumption in ICT Total = 156GW = 8% of global electricity consumption minimal

Future Estimations 1/7 of electricity is used in ICT in 2020 =>Power efficiency is also a key research topic!

Key issues  Advanced technologies for more energy efficient data handling/storage and computing resource usage.  Hardware improvements.  Software optimizations: intelligent power management of computers and screens, switching off servers during quiet hours.
