18 Testing-Inspection-Certification Market

19

TIC Sector Forecasts

21 TIC Sector best performing segment in Business Services …

M&A activity coming back from slower 2009

Private equity vs. strategic buyers: some considerations

Competition Most of the CEOC members had a monopolistic status in the past Today we are competitors at the open markets  Still we must be able to cooperate in important sector specific topics  Restrictions of competition are illegal 24

25 Global Testing, Inspection and Certification

26

Market segments by share 27

CEOC International today CEOC International members have different roles, aims, sizes and scopes ⇒ the members expect different services and actions from the confederation. ⇒ CEOC must therefore balance its services and support to the different categories of membership ⇒ CEOC will permanently face a great variety of expectations The only way to conciliate such different expectations is to combine in a complementary way the European / International and the national level.

A changing world for the TIC sector – CEOC’s major challenges 1.Positive market development and potential (100 Billion € ) 2.Globalisation of the markets 3.Competition between TIC companies 4.Consolidation following an on going process of mergers and acquisitions 5.Lower profitability mainly due to sinking prices 6.High costs due to shortage of qualified personnel 7.Providing enabling technologies 8.More safety minded environment 9.Visibility and communication 10.Public perception

30 A changing world for the TIC sector – CEOC’s major challenges CEOC Contribution to the global challenges Promoting Third Party Testing-Inspection-Certification on political and technical level Explain industries of our added value in terms of cost and risk reductions Influence Consumers, Politicians and Public Opinion via the media. “Time is on our side“ Harmonisation of European and Global Accreditation procedures Harmonisation of European and Global TIC standards and procedures

CEOC International’s priorities to increase & improve CEOC’s promotional activities in order to promote the added value of independent third party testing, inspection and certification and to anticipate current and future market developments to increase & improve CEOC’s visibility in order to become the recognized voice to promote safety and quality in Europe to increase & improve CEOC’s communication, both internally and externally, in order to be able to speak with one voice to support and promote the technical knowledge and competence as the backbone which underpins CEOC’s work

32 The key role of the association … The role of the association How do we measure the INFLUENCE? Measuring the direct influence of a business association is itself a challenge. (Association Management, Vol 12, Ed 4) -How effective is association in promoting its sector to public policy makers- Combination of 3 key issues: 1.Performance on issue 2.Relationship with policy makers (sector related network) 3.Reputation of the sector/business/industry

Credibility CEOC represents the TIC sector in Europe Our work is increasingly in lobbying and then our credibility becomes even more important CEOC shall be controlled by its members If the other parties feel that we only present few members or countries then we lose our credibility  Both large and small members shall be involved 33

34 CEOC partners 2014 CEOC International aims to extend even further its network to reinforce the already existing dialogue and exchange of information with organisations in and outside Europe. The Safety Alliance

The International Safety Alliance Joint promotion of the safety of European societies and its citizens.
