Mission of the Centre To provide relevant programs and strategic alliances to educational managers, practitioners and policy makers towards improving lifelong learning practice in Southeast Asia through research and development, capacity building and information exchange.

Major Programmes: Training 1.Adult education / NFE teachers training 2.Life skills courses offered to local community 3.Community learning centre activities and management skills

Major Programmes: Research and Development 1.Lifelong learning policies in Southeast Asian countries: progress and challenges 2.Successful models of (lifelong) learning cities and lessons learned 3.A lifelong learning index in the context of Southeast Asian Region

Major Programmes: Community Outreach 1.Ramping up exemplary models of community learning centres 2.Providing life-skills courses to benefit local communities, especially the disadvantaged and the marginalised groups

Significant Accomplishments 1.Successfully establishing contact and links to most major regional and international LLL organisations and partners such as UiL, dvv-international, ASPBAE, LLL ASEM Hub, Intel Education… 2. Effectively contributing to the Beijing Declaration on Building Learning Cities as member of the Drafting Committee at the first Global Conference on Learning Cities (10/2013)

Significant Accomplishments 3. Successfully compiling an explanatory glossary on essential Lifelong learning terms as requested by the VN National Steering Committee on Building a Learning Society

Vision for the Future 1.Comparative studies on Japan & SE Asia LLL policies to learn the lessons of incorporating shogai gakushu into national policy as a means of coping with the social and economic problems confronting society 2.Seminars on BKMs from the successful Japanese Kominkans as a model for Community learning centres in SE Asia
