Musical Connection “To Dr. King’s dream, which can only come true if the very young know and understand.

Epilogue THE CAY: BY JEFFREY MANN In the beginning: In Willemstead there is a war. Phillip’s mom Grace wants to be safe. His dad Phillip SR. tells Phillip that he should go back to Virginia with his mom to be safe. After a while they are going to leave and they get torpedoed. Phillip gets hit in the head by a plank. His mom is very calm to Phillip so he doesn’t get scared.

Phillip gets stuck on the raft with Timothy. Phillip gets angry at Timothy because Phillip thinks that Timothy is saving all the water for himself. Phillip started calling Timothy an old black Negro. When Phillip got hit in the head with the plank he lost some of his sense. When he was on the raft with Timothy he was blinded by the light and he blamed it on Timothy.

Phillip fell overboard and Timothy went after him. Phillip did not get hurt because Timothy saved him from the sharks. Timothy and Phillip get to the island and they get started on making the hut and mats. Phillip doesn’t want to make the mats because he is blind and he can’t see so he doesn’t want to do it.

Phillip walks around the island to get to know it more because he doesn’t know the island at all. Phillip gets mad at Timothy and Timothy slapped him. Phillip gets all emotional but holds his tears in to show that he is not a baby. After a while Phillip and Timothy get over it. A while later Timothy shows Phillip how to fish now that he is blind.

Timothy starts talking about that stew cat is bad luck. Timothy hides stew cat in the raft and Phillip gets scared because he can’t lose stew cat. Timothy is making a woodcarving of stew cat so the curse won’t harm stew cat. After a while Timothy lets stew cat back out and then Phillip is happy.

Timothy takes Phillip on some more fishing trips to teach him. After awhile Timothy lets Phillip fish by himself. Because Timothy is old and he can’t climb trees anymore he lets Phillip try and Phillip gets both of the coconuts. Timothy is very happy that Phillip climbed the tree.

The Storm It was a nice day on the cay when a hurricane hit. Timothy and Phillip were ready for it. For a couple of hours it was not good. Timothy was getting hit by tiny little rocks that were ripping his skin off, his skin was getting ripped to shreds. Timothy was trying to protect Phillip from the rocks. He was holding him on the palm tree.

After a few hours the center of the hurricane (the eye) had reached them so they could relax. Timothy’s wounds were too bad to heal. 30 minutes later the outer side of the hurricane came back. At that time the water was up and over their heads Timothy lost conscienceness.

After the storm Timothy was doing very poorly and hours later he died from lousing too much blood. Phillip made a grave for Timothy. Before Timothy died they had a rock calendar but they lost it so Phillip had to start over. It has been 10 days without Timothy. On that day a plane flew by but his rescue fire was not enough to let the man in the plane see him.

A day or two later a plane flew by again, his fire was dark but when the man looked down the man thought he was a native fisherman. A plane flew by again it kept on going back and forth and finally flew away. The plane sent a message to Willemstead so a boat would go out and find Phillip. When the boat got there the people were amazed at Phillip. He was naked and he was holding a cat.

When Phillip got back to Willemstead he went to the hospital so he could see again. They had bandages on his head. Phillip was shocked because he was bald. He gained his sight back but would always have to wear glasses.

After his bandages were off he could go and walk on the island because the war was over. He did not play with HENDRIK BON BOVEN anymore because he doesn’t want to play child games. Phillip would rather talk with the black people about Timothy.
