Telephone September & October Newsletter 2015 We ensure that any photographs or recordings taken of your children in our nursery are only done with prior written permission from each child’s parent. We ask for individual permissions for photographs and video recordings for each different use including, use in the child’s learning journey, for display purposes, for promotion materials including our nursery website and brochure and to use in the local press. We ensure that parents understand that their child may also be on another photograph, but not as the primary person, that may be used in another child’s learning journey. Parents are not permitted to use any recording device or camera (including those on mobile phones) on the nursery premises without the prior consent of the manager. During special events, e.g. Christmas or leaving parties, In this case individual permission will be asked for each child before this event. This will ensure all photographs taken are in line with parental choice. Only the nursery phone can be used to contact parents not staff phones. As you are all aware we only have minimum parking space outside the nursery and due to the new parking restrictions on the Calthorpe Road between the hours of 4:30-6:30, you are unable to park here. Due to this please can we ask parents to ensure that you are courteous to other parents that wish to collect their children. Many Thanks Many Thanks Congratulations to Amanda from Early Learners who has had a little girl named Evie-Louise weighing 7.7oz. Both are doing well. All at Edgbaston Nursery School would like to wish all 27 children that have left us to either go to nursery school or reception class all the best. We hope you enjoyed your time here with us and will come back to see us all very soon in your new uniform. Please can we remind all parents to encourage there children to leave there own toys at home. This would really help us within the nursery to ensure that they don’t lost, misplaced or they get broken. Please can we ask all parents to ensure that you follow your child's book patterning and ensure your are not entering the room before your start time. This is due to ratio and staffing. You are all welcome to come into the room and stay with your child/children until then. There have been some changes to our curriculum (the Early Years Foundation Stage), one of the main changes is how we promote British Values in the Early Years. So what are these? Well the EYFS says “Fundamental British values, first set out in the Government’s Prevent strategy, are democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs. The promotion of fundamental British values will be reflected in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and exemplified in an age-appropriate way through practice guidance” We are now introducing our ‘Jigsaws’ which are the forms that will be used to record the views of the child, parents and key person. We will be using the ‘Jigsaws’ to enhance and reflect on the children’s transition period and to provide yourselves, as parents with more information about your child’s development. ‘Jigsaws’ will be completed for each individual child around two weeks after they have settled into the new playroom, you will then be invited by your child’s key to discuss the ‘Jigsaw’ and of course add your piece.
