Biological Engineering Field Report By Josh Lamson POE - 3C - Matia February 15 th 2007

What is it? Biological Engineering is the application of biology to engineering Biological Engineers are much different than Biologists. Biological Engineers study biology then add in the engineering, and make a product

What do they do? Biological Engineer’s are usually found in industries based on: food and bioprocessing plant and animal development Environmental sustainability Pharmaceutical production Biomedical materials processing.

That means…? More specifically, Biological Engineers could design equipment to produce pharmaceuticals pet food or human foods control tissue growth for new biological products; develop biological sensors to minimize stress or enhance productivity; control the environments in greenhouses and animal facilities; resolve waste management, water quality, and other environmental concerns; develop biodegradable products.

Branches The two Branches of biological engineering are Biomedical Engineering Bioenvironmental Engineering.

Biomedical Engineering Biomedical Engineer’s use Biological Engineering to improve the heath and medical world Biomedical Engineers can do any task including designing instruments, devices, software, and other technology to talk with other sort of specialists like doctors, to make Medical Improvements or to research any area of a dieses to help cure it

Bioenvironmental Engineering This Branch is mostly used in the US Air Force Bioenvironmental Engineers apply their knowledge of Engineering to deduct risk of health problems for the protection of people. This involves performing risk assessments evaluating chemical, physical and biological stress factors which may  cause illness, injury, reduced productivity or performance  or significant discomfort among Air Force personnel

Pay Check Biological Engineers with only a get paid With a bachelors degree  on average $ 45,324 a year With a graduate degree  some Biological Engineers get paid up to $ a year.

College The college used in my paper is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Some other Colleges with Biological Engineering programs are University of Colorado (Boulder) Virginia Tech University of Maryland

Jobs Bioenvironmental Engineers are fairly uncommon with only 300 in the USAF. Some jobs Biomedical Engineers I found were at Johns Hopkins University/Applied Physics Labs Aerotek Scientific labs

THANK YOU Thanks for watching NOW GO ENGINEER STUFF!
