Unit 2 Why did people come to Idaho?

Can you find the state of Idaho?

People came to Idaho… to get the free land in Oregon…preach…mine gold…trap animals…and shepherd sheep… yes really !

Oregon Trail People went through what is now Idaho to get the free land in Oregon. They trailed through Idaho to get to Oregon.

Free land in Oregon, come by foot or wagon. Build a dream home and have the space you have always wanted.

Use the map and see what geographic features people had to cross to get to Oregon.

The Snake River

The Oregon Trail made Fort Boise a very popular place to be.

Others came to preach their church beliefs and find a new home.

Mormon settlers started the first permanent settlement in what is now Franklin, Idaho.
