Designing a Rubric Web Page Design I Periods 2 & 7 Mr. Toto Room 208 Lawrence High School

OK Mr. T…What the heck is a rubric?

ru·bric The Rubric is an authentic assessment tool which is being increasingly used since it is particularly useful in assessing criteria which are complex and subjective., The rubric is one authentic assessment tool which is designed to simulate real life activity where students are engaged in solving real-life problems. Students themselves are involved in the assessment process through both peer and self- assessment. This involvement empowers the students and as a result, their learning becomes more focused and self- directed. Authentic assessment, therefore, blurs the lines between teaching, learning, and assessment.

Please take a look at the rubric…can you determine what the RUBRIC is asking for?

I hope by viewing the previous slide that you, the viewer, were able to determine the first criteria. The first item that was being asked to be “graded” was the students ability to Research and Gather Information.

Your assignment is to develop a rubric. The Purpose is to use the RUBRIC to determine which one will work best for you in “Inserting” a TABLE within a new or existing web page The rubric will be used to view your 10 (TEN) web sites on “free beginners web page design tutorials” You are to RANK the websites according to your description of “FRIENDLINESS” It will be your responsibility to define “FRIENDLINESS” according to a self- generated rubric.

So…where do I start? First you will need to PERFORM a for Rubrics via the Internet. Enter “Rubrics” into the search box

Second you will need to record (Copy and Paste)the URL information to a word document. Enter your Rubric URL information here

Third you will create your own Rubric by COMPARING and CONTRASTING your rubric versus what you have “discovered” via the Internet. What is your definition of “friendliness?” I like: Friendliness n 1: a feeling of liking for another person; enjoyment in their company 2: a friendly disposition

1 Beginning 2 Developing 3 Accomplished 4 Exemplary 5 Score Does not meet definition Approaches The meaning Defines with adequacy Provides a model Friendliness

Another example of the zillion RUBRICS available on the Web

Good Luck with your assignment On ‘s !
