The museum must be guided by a policy statement about its approach to environmental sustainability, and that policy statement must be appropriate to its statement of purpose.

Commitment to: Pro-actively encourage recycling on site Consider the environmental impact of any new development and event Source materials from sustainable sources Encourage visitors to use green methods of transport when they visit Buy food and other materials from local suppliers Be aware of the museum’s carbon footprint so as to be able to plan for and monitor reductions
