The EkoSkola Programme A whole school approach

A whole school approach to environmental education is a plan of action that systematically weaves environmental education principles within a school’s management policy … progressively the whole school community incorporates an environmental ethic within its school ethos

A whole school approach … addresses the environment not just from a natural perspective, but also from social and cultural perspectives provides a way of contextualising and internalising the principles of sustainability into a way of life irons out double standards making the school a more authentic and valid teaching /learning environment provides opportunities for interaction with the community empowers individuals with the responsibility and the means to bring about change
