Years of war: America and Brittan were involved in this war. Resolution: the Americans won there right to freedom!

The American Revolution was caused by many different reasons. Some of which include higher tax rates without representation, and British oppression of the Colonies.

In 1775, when the former president of the Continental Congress Peyton Randolph resigned, John Hancock was elected president of the second continental Congress. On July 4, 1776, he signed the declaration of Independence. He signed his name the largest so that King George the III could read it without his glasses. The Patriots in the Revolutionary War hated him. They would make effigies of him and burn them. They would call him a Tory and throw rocks at pictures of him. They would burn Tory houses because the Tories honored King George III. King George III

In early 1777, John Burgoyne responded to an invitation from the king to test the strategy he had been advocating: "Conducting the War From the Side of Canada." General Burgoyne marched south from Canada only to meet with Horatio Gates and a much larger force on a field near Saratoga. Americans, under Horatio Gates, surrounded the British. Sir John Burgoyne and the Brits surrendered

For the people that were not soldiers, woman and children. They had to give up there homes for British soldiers, to use them for bases.

The American Revolution ended with the Treaty of Paris - Britain recognized America as an independent country.

The Americans had become a nation of freedom! They were free of the British forever!!
