Laws for a Healthy Community Snow removal Trash/waste pick-up Grass cutting Pet clean-up Littering Smoke-free restaurants/bars No texting while driving Curfew

PA “Dumb Laws” You may not sing in the bathtub. The Pennsylvania Game Commission dictates that foxes, crows and coyotes are the only permissible game on Sundays. If a motorist sees a horse coming down the road, the driver must pull off to the side of the road and cover the vehicle with canvas.

More “Dumb Laws” It is illegal to sleep on top of a refrigerator outdoors. One cannot run for governor unless he/she has participated in a duel. Ministers are forbidden from performing marriages when either the bride or groom is drunk.

Even More “Dumb Laws” You may not catch a fish with your hands. You may not catch a fish by any body part except the mouth. Dynamite is not to be used to catch fish. Though you do not need a fishing license to fish on your own land, but a hunting license is required to hunt on your own land.

…it’ your turn… YOU are now in charge of making local laws/ordinances in the North Penn community Directions: –Pick a local law/ordinance you would like to change or get rid of –Create a new or change that law/ordinance –Give ‘justification’ – why did you pick it? Why did you change it? When you are finished: –Check it with Mrs. P to make sure it will pass and get her approval –Staple or glue your worksheet to a piece of construction paper (color of your choice) – Post it on the wall where Mrs. P directs you (Back-to-School night is this week)
