PAYROLL PROCESSING

PAYROLL In a company, payroll is the sum of all financial records of salaries, wages, bonuses, and deductions.

PRODUCING PAYSLIPS Pay slips include information such as employee details including name and address, previous employment tax and National Insurance history.

PRODUCING PAYSLIPS Standard pay slip details include ‘pay so far this year’, holiday pay, pension and loan schemes. They also usually include Full Statutory Sick Pay and Statutory Maternity Pay details.

PRODUCING PAYSLIPS All this tends to be done on a monthly basis using batch processing. A transaction file is created at the end of the month containing details such as worker’s number, hours worked etc. and this is used with the master file.

PRODUCING PAYSLIPS The master file is updated pay slips produced financial reports are generated.

Financial reports Most payroll software has a report generator facility. This provides detailed payroll listings and exception reporting. Reports can be produced showing hours worked and other cost information by department or individual.
