The Book Project 1.Have alphabet books available to students. Read a few and discuss the general format of alphabet books. 2.Present rubric and discuss what students need to include on each letter page. 3.Give alphabet organizer handout to students with topics listed.

4. Students work in groups to complete the research for each letter. Use storyboard handouts for students prewriting. 5. Students can type in word processing program or write & draw with pens/pencils. Assemble into books.

Planning Tips Have topics ready for students Encyclopedias/dictionaries make a good start to the project Have plenty of book resources pulled for your topic theme Bookmark appropriate websites Templates are helpful in maintaining consistency
