Physical Design of a network People who develop & support networks

Physical Design of a network Network diagrams Networks in medium to large organisations can become very complex, with the number of devices that can connect throughout the premises. Network diagrams use straight lines to represent cables, and icons are used to represent communications devices.

Physical design of a network

Developing a network Networks are vital to the operation of most organisations. When designing a network, it is paramount that a user’s needs are met and implemented. A new network may need to be established or a significant change may need to be made to the existing network if the company’s goals are not currently being met.

Systems/network programmer Install & maintain software on the network Technical specialists Install & configure the communications devices, network hardware & communications channels

Supporting a network Established networks require a number of professionals who are responsible for support & maintenance tasks. These roles include: Network Administrator Network support technician Help-desk support Website developer

Activity Page has descriptions of each of the aforementioned roles. You are required to read through these and summarise each role on the following slides.
