How do you stay safe when you visit websites? Hueneme Elementary School District Digital Citizenship First Grade

What does it mean to be safe?

When you walk down the street or play in your neighborhood without a trusted adult there, how do you stay safe? Flickr

What does a traffic light tell people? What does a red light mean? What does a yellow light mean? What does a green light mean? A website traffic light can help you choose “just right” sites.

Green light -- GOOD! doesn’t let you talk with strangers appropriate words fun things to do and see What are some “green” websites you visit? How do you know they are safe?

Yellow light -- CAUTION can communicate freely with others not sure it is right for you asks for private information Have you ever come across a “yellow” site? How did you take caution? get permission from a trusted adult

Red light --- STOP filled with things for older kids or adults not right for you Might have gone there by accident Have you ever come across a “red” site? How could you tell? avoid, or ask a trusted adult
