”Prevention of Intimate Partner Violence – A Public Health Approach” Prevention in a domestic context Focus: Male violent behaviour towards intimate partner Beneficiaries: women, young people and children Target groups: Men with voilent behavior, professionals and public authorities/NGO’s

Concrete Activities: Devon County council: Perpertrator programme and partner program, support for children, supervision, agency awareness Hampton Trust: School based programme 8 x 90 minutes sessions for 13 years plus, programme focuses on healthy and respectful relationships, tranining for professionals, materials on domestic violence for professionals Styria: coordination of preventive work through a special networking process Värmland: education of health care staff in order to meet and treat victims, witnesses and perpertrators

Concrete Activities Men’s counselling centre in Graz (Styria): various groups and individual therapies clearing case management and post-therepeutic interventions know-how transfer and contacts with most important partner organizations County Council of Värmland: Education of Health care staff, focusing on identifying patient’s experience of violence as cause of various symptoms and illness increase knowledge on treatment for male patient’s with violent behaviour increse knowledge on violence and health consequences for public stakeholders

until October Devon: 30 accepted into the programme – 17 dropped off One-to-one sessions for 12 weeks 30 weeks group work 8 women ass. with men in the programme are getting support 19 children supported by children’s worker

… until October 2007… Hampshire: Training materials for SRE Forums devloped; 11 forums 8 week training manual Pilot program with young violent men Training of staff in Young Offending Teams Completed three cohorts with totally 24 men (8 in each cohort)

until October 2007… Styria: Strenghtened cooperation with women’s helthcare center and the violence protection center. ”Paper” on cooperation different actors in the field of domestic violence Established connection with Mens Councelling center in Vienna Exchange of knowledge and experience with the Viennese Daphne project

until October 2007 … Värmland: Four education sessions for health care staff 130 persons reached Data for pre-measurement has been collected Seminars for staff concerning treatment of perpertrators A 1 day seminar on evidence based methods for riskassessment Upcoming: Seminar regarding treatment of fathers with violent behaviour A dialogue meeting with public stakeholders
