Extra Credit Raina Lesson Examining the Scene and Persons of interest

1.1.2 Examining the scene It was a hot morning with a temperature of 92 degrees fahrenheit. At 9:45 am an emergency 911 call came in. A neighbor named Doug Greene reported that his neighbor Anna Garcia's dog had been barking excitedly for the last 2 hours. This is very unusual in their quiet suburban neighborhood. He had last seen Anna at 6:30am when she was walking her dog. Anna was also wearing a long sleeve sweater which is unusual in the heat wave they were experiencing. Doug tried to call Anna but she didn't answer. He then tried to ring the doorbell. The 911 operator notified the police and EMT, which both arrived at the scene at 9:56am. After breaking down the door they found the following scenario; it was a comfortable 73 degrees fahrenheit, they found Anna laying face down in the entry hallway, vomit near her mouth, a syringe near body, spilled pills by her right hand, blood on the floor near her head and a cell phone. Upon further examination of the scene they found fingerprints on the cell phone. As a result of the questionable situation the police immediately notified the Crime scene investigators.

1.1.2 Career 911 Operator Education/Training The education required is CPR certification, emergency communication, criminal justice its also good to know foreign languages. A 911 dispatcher has to have great people skills and offer reassurance t caller seeking assistance in a crisis. Responsibilities/Daily Activities The job of a 911 operator is to answer the 911 calls from the police station firehouse medical center and both emergency and non emergency situations. Annual Salary:$25,160-$37,740 Documentation Self reflection I believe I could enjoy being a 911 Operator but in the long run i don't think I could do it because I can't sit still for long periods of time and 911 operators have to be able to sit down for long periods of time.

EMT and Paramedic A lot of responsibilities come with becoming an EMT or paramedic. Education/training You must pass the NREMT(National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians) Exam. You also need to have strong critical thinking and problem solving skills in a situation so you can take the best action. Since being a EMT/ Paramedic will require a lot of heavy lifting and bending you need to be physically fit Responsibilities/Daily Activities The daily activities and responsibilities of a EMT and Paramedic include responding to 911 calls needing medical assistance one example performing CPR, bandaging wounds. They are responsible for assessing a patients condition and treating them. They also provide transportation after choosing the right action to take. A paramedic also informs hospitals when they are bring in a patient and their current condition. They most always use a back board and neck brace for people who are needing assistance just incase they have suffered damage to their spinal cord. The average Annual Salary for a EMT and Paramedic is around $31,020. Documentation of source Self reflection I would not want to be an EMT or Paramedic because again I am very sensitive and when EMT arrive at certain scenes it can be very disturbing or sad. I couldn't handle it emotionally that why i would not enjoy or be interesting in pursuing the career of an EMT or Paramedic.

Crime scene Investigator Education To become a crime scene investigator you will need to get a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice you also want skills specializing in analytical skills law enforcement, correction, probation, fraud investigation, parole or juvenile justice facilities. It may be necessary to attend in police academy training which may be required for law enforcement jobs. Responsibilities of a Crime scene Investigator can include being a Team leader a Photographer because you will need to take photos at a crime scene so that you can look over them later. You also need to be able to sketch because yuo will be sketching the crime scene or victim etc. Another important thing is evidence recorder and recovery personnel because you will have to be able to take notes and record and log certain information. There are also different parts in being a crime scene investigator like being in charge of blood splatter analyst a bomb technician, criminalist, surveyor, medical examiner etc. Average Annual Salary $57,340 source lhttp://careerplanning.about.com/od/crime-scene- investigator/ investigator/ Self Reflection I would not want to be a crime scene investigator because I don't like seeing gruesome things which you will be doing when observing a crime scene. I am very sensitive and I find many things very disturbing and sad. I would not be able to deal with being a crime scene investigator emotionally.
