Copyright © 2007 School Nutrition Association. All Rights Reserved. Recommendation # 1 SNA should continue to offer individual memberships and maintain its current membership structure as defined in its Governing Rules. Strategy: a. Continue to offer individual memberships.

Copyright © 2007 School Nutrition Association. All Rights Reserved. Recommendation # 2 SNA should introduce and offer School Based Membership owned by the school district (institution) that packages membership with training and certification given the growing complexity of child nutrition programs and the need to have a well-trained workforce.

Copyright © 2007 School Nutrition Association. All Rights Reserved. Recommendation # 2 Strategies: a. School Based Membership should include all the same rights and privileges as individual members but owned by the school district and transferable. b. School Based Membership needs to be by schools and not school districts. School sites defined as: Individual school kitchen Central kitchen/bakery Warehouse Childcare facility c. School Based Membership only be open to FN employees and managers because it is school based.

Copyright © 2007 School Nutrition Association. All Rights Reserved. Recommendation # 2 Strategies Continued: d. One common renewal date for each school and could also be done with each school district. e. School Based Membership Package should not be hindered by SNA’s current technology structure. f. School Based Membership Packages should be financially viable for SNA. g. School Based Membership should be pilot tested in 3 states (one large, one medium and one small state association). h. State associations will need to be required to offer a school based membership so membership process is transparent and state memberships are transferable. i. With the introduction of School Based Membership, SNA should begin producing all of its membership materials in Spanish.

Copyright © 2007 School Nutrition Association. All Rights Reserved. Recommendation # 3 SNA should offer an institutional membership that is not packaged with any other value added benefits such as training and certification. –Institutional membership should only be offered for all School Foodservice and Nutrition member categories

Copyright © 2007 School Nutrition Association. All Rights Reserved. Recommendation # 3 Strategies a. Introduce institutional membership for all member types except students, retired and affiliate members. b. Price institutional membership higher to provide for administrative/processing work involved in transfers. $5 more for employee/managers $10 more for Directors c. Incorporate into current membership application.
