What is SEMI High Tech U? A fun, interactive experience for students and teachers that exposes them to potential careers in the semiconductor and microelectronics industry

Our Goal Get kids excited about career opportunities in the high tech industry!

Key Messages Stay in school! The more math and science courses completed, the more prepared you will be for a future in technology. Social and business skills are as important as technical skills. Success and confidence are within you.

High Tech U Team A Unique Model of Partnership Industry driven Parents Teachers and school districts Trade schools, community college and university cooperation and collaboration Communities and local government

Why AZ students should participate To connect math and science to real world applications To explore career opportunities with industry professionals To assess their skills and investigate education pathways to reach goals To find out about college opportunities AND HTU Meets 11 out of 12 AZ state standards

Student Recruitment Profile –Good to average student –Demonstrates interest or aptitude in math, science and or technology –Agrees to attend all three days –Parent or guardian participation –Usually sophomores –We like students who have the potential to do well in a math and science based career, and have not yet realized the “possibilities”

Program Overview Day One –Hands on science, math and technology related activities at industry site Day Two – Visit to local college or university– more hands-on activities Day Three – Soft skill development, interviewing, graduation
