canyon- a deep valley surrounded by high, rocky walls Sometimes a stream runs through the bottom of a canyon.

region- an area of land that has special features different from other areas of land, such as geography There are forest regions, desert regions, and mountain regions in the United States.

surround- things that are on all sides of you or form a circle around you Surround sound speakers make you feel like you are at the movie theater.

solution- the answer to a problem A missing piece was the solution to the puzzle.

dense- put together tightly or thick A forest is usually dense with trees.

aspect- refers to a particular part of something An enjoyable aspect of your summer vacation might be going to the swimming pool.

impact- the strong effect that one thing has on another A thunderstorm would have a tremendous impact on your plans for a trip to the park.

alter- to change it in some way One can alter facial expressions by using facial muscles.

climate- the weather in a place or area The climate can be different in each region of the United States.
