Subject and Object Pronouns

Subject and Object Pronouns REMEMBER: a pronoun replaces a noun. Nouns can function as both subjects and direct objects. Depending on whether the noun is a subject or a direct object, the pronoun that replaces it can be a subject or an object pronoun. (See posters.)

What is the subject pronoun? What is the object pronoun? If a pronoun replaces a subject, it is called a subject pronoun. If a pronoun replaces a direct object, it is called an object pronoun. Another Example When Tyrone tried to catch the ball, he let it fall through his fingers. Subject – Tyrone Direct Object - ball Subject Pronoun – “he” is the subject pronoun because it is replacing “Tyrone” Object Pronoun – “it” is the object pronoun because it is replacing “ball”
