Jessica Horning, Kevin J. Krizek, & Ahmed El-Geneidy University of Minnesota Parcel Level Land Use & Determining Motorized and Non- Motorized Accessibility

Overview This research will integrate multiple datasets to create GIS layers that will assist in developing accessibility measures at the neighborhood and regional level. Detailed data will be generated to accommodate measuring accessibility to detailed land uses (grocery shopping, doctors, movie theaters, barber shops‚ etc) that are more likely to be influenced by transit, cycling, or especially walking Land Use Accessibility GIS Layers Networks Destinations

Joining Business & Parcel Data Hired computer science graduate student to join D&B business address and Metro parcel centroid tables using Oracle database software –Using parcel centroids creates greater accuracy for destinations in multiple unit structures –Higher success rate Businesses that were’t matched in Oracle were geocoded and matched to the closest geocoded parcel centroid

Next Steps

Finish joining D&B business and parcel points databases Convert parcel points to polygons –Develop methodology to deal with multiple unit parcels Code parcels by destination type
