The advent of Team Lakshya took place in the year 2007 on the grounds of Chitkara University. Team Lakshya is a team of juvenile minds comprising of engineering students having specialism in the Mechanical, Electronics and Communication, and Computer Science streams. So in all, Team Lakshya having a cogent and experienced workforce having specialization in their respective fields. Team Lakshya adds a new dimension to the engineering knowledge and experience of young dynamic minds during the practical application of their theoretical knowledge learnt in the classrooms. Students exhibit a high level commitment and dedication to their work as they juggle their responsibilities to the team. Since its birth, Team Lakshya is bringing pride and laurels to Chitkara University and its sponsors by not only participating in competitions like Formula Student, BAJA, Shell Eco Marathon but by also procuring a well recognized and respected position in all these competitions.

Over 600 teams compete in at least one of the eleven Formula Student competitions held in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Australia, India, Austria and Japan where students from different zone of the world show their adroitness on the race track. Formula SAE (FSAE) is a student design competition sanctioned by the Society of the Automotive Engineers. It is Europe’s most established educational motorsport competition run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers where students design and build formula style vehicles. Backed by industry and high profile engineers such as Patron Ross Brawn OBE, the competition aims to inspire and develop enterprising and innovative young engineers. The competition is not about wheel to wheel racing, but about proving that your car is better by design, which makes this competition so unique. So adhering to the rules published by SAE International the students design, manufacture, test and race a small Indy style race car in order to show their creativity and engineering skills.
