Project 1: Design/Build/Test Instrumentation to Monitor Aerogel Fabrication Process  Skills: Hands-on, design skills  Design “Universal” sensor, build and test  Work with Interdisciplinary Team (ME & CHEM)

Project 2: Test & Characterize Catalytic Aerogels Global Kinetic Modelling  Skills: MATLAB, Thermo/Chemistry  Acquire Catalytic Test Data & Work with MATLAB optimization program to model data.  Work with Interdisciplinary Team (ME & CHEM)

Project 3: Energy Modeling of Aerogel Windows  Skills: Software  Run Software Simulations of houses/building with aerogel windows.  Work with Interdisciplinary Team (ME & CHEM)

Others?  Make Boats go faster (using Superhydrophobic Aerogels to reduce drag)  Develop PIV/CFD Results of Flow Over RC Cars for use in MER 331  Will consider supervising fluids and heat transfer related projects of MOTIVATED students.
