Standards SS7G6 The student will discuss environmental issues across Southwest Asia (Middle East). a. Explain how water pollution and the unequal distribution of water impacts irrigation and drinking water.

Essential Question How does water pollution and the unequal distribution of water impact irrigation and drinking water in Southwest Asia?

Today I will…. Today I will learn how the shortage of water can cause conflict amongst nations because I need to know that scarcity of natural resources can have a tremendous impact on a region.

Word Splash Directions: Make as many sentences as you can until your teacher calls time. You must use at least one of the words below in each sentence.

Work Period pt. 1 We will listen to an audio article titled: “Drought Withers Iraqi Farms and Food Supplies”. The next set of pictures will give you a visual as to what is being explained in the report. ory.php?storyId=

Work Period Part 3 Summary Activity Summary Activity: Draw 4 pictures illustrating the problems causing the water crisis in the Middle East, you MUST use pollution as one of the causes and the other 3 are your choice. and Draw 4 pictures illustrating possible solutions to the water crisis in the Middle East. If you do not finish this in class it will become your HOMEWORK assignment! There is an example on the next slide.
