In Congo they used crocodile skins as shields because they were ferocious fearsome creatures and they had tough skin. They also used elephant tusks as weapons and necklaces They thought of crocodiles as messengers of the sun-god, Lisa Also Congo still use crocodile skin as handbags. Animal skin is used in many weapons and also the handles of the weapons or shields. Animals are a vital part of Congolese art. They represent the bond between man and mother nature.

CONGO'S ART Congolese have always cherished art and weapons and animals in the past. they represent animals in many artistic ways. they make animal mask and they’ve made necklaces jewelry,shoes they've even made shields out of animal skin. instead of always using weapons for war they would use them for art they actually embody something more,for example, authority and respect.
