What group does Rome owe its establishment as a civilization? What are some things Romans learned from this group? (List 3) Etruscans Architecture, Religion, Engineering, Alphabet Do we own anything to anyone? Who? What?

What is the history of the alphabet from the Phoenicians to the Romans? Phoenicians Minoans Myceneans Greeks Etruscans ROMANS

Why were Romans so much in favor of the Republic? Did not want a single ruler to have ALL of the Power. Why did we set up our government the way we did?

How was the Republic of Rome structured? Originally had a Senate and two Consuls. Later add the positions of Tribune, Quaestor, Praetor, Aedile, Dictator, and Censor

Why did plebeians want more power and how did they achieve it? Representation? Influence in Government? Wealth?

Women gained greater freedom and influence over the centuries. Some women ran businesses. Most worked at home, raising families. Both girls and boys learned to read and write. Education was highly valued. Gods and goddesses resembled those of Greeks. Religious festivals inspired sense of community. Romans built many temples for worship.
