Public Policy Issues What is an issue? When people ask the government to help solve a public problem, the issues that arise become_____. Define Public Policy. Who sets policies that affect you more directly?

Public Policy Choices In order to make public policy what must government officials do? How do these officials get these positions? Solving public problems also requires what? What is the key to finding and carrying out solutions to public problems? How does public policy relate to public problems?

What was the name of the group of people who wanted the our new government to have a strong central government? Who were the group of people who wanted most of the power to lie with the states? Define federalism. What amendment of the Constitution basically states that all other powers not mentioned by the Constitution would be reserved for the states?

Power of the States What does the Constitution not do? Someone please read the 10 th amendment. The 10 th Amendment- Gives to the states all powers not given to the national government or not denied to the states. What powers do the states hold alone?

Shared Powers What powers are shared between the national and state governments?

What is our governments federalism compared to? Why? Some people want the national government out of the states’ business. While others that the national government’s power over the states should increase.
