How do we move? Bones and muscles work together to help you move. Altogether there are 206 bones inside an adult body. Bones are hard and very strong. When put together they form a skeleton. Muscles are attached to the skeleton by tendons. When a muscle contracts it makes the bone it’s joined to move. Supporting worksheet: How do muscles and bones help us move

What is digestion? After a meal your body works hard to digest your food. Digestion breaks down the food you’ve eaten and turn it into useful chemicals called nutrients. Carbohydrate rich foods are broken down into a type of sugar called glucose. Nutrients like sugar move from your digestive system into your blood. Once inside your blood, sugar is taken to your muscles. Finally cells in your muscles turn the sugar into energy so you can move. Supporting worksheet – How does food help us move
