Presentation transcript:

“Conquering Your World” Lesson 9.2 Created By: Pam Gunter

Materials Needed: Paper and pen or pencil for each student. Classroom Setup: Sit at desk.

Did everyone find two people that have positively influenced their lives? Did you discover some of their character traits that made them the person they are today? Or were when they were alive?

Emotional Peacemaker Make others feel good Enjoy meditation Confident Mental/Academic/Skills Disciplined at doing homework Good at woodwork Good at fixing cars Physical Good at basketball Good at playing flute Exercising Like your hair color Like your voice

Have each student make diagram like the one on the previous screen. Have students fill in their diagram, based on how they view themselves.

Points instructor needs to bring out: Everyone has positive characteristics. When we focus on our positive attributes, we will feel better about ourselves and others. We are all unique, with different strengths. It takes many different types of strengths to build a strong community and world. On days when it may be difficult to see the good in ourselves, pull out this exercise and review those things that you feel good about. Encourage others to recognize their positive characteristics. Often times complimenting others helps us feel good about ourselves as well.

As you go throughout the week, continue recognizing the things you like about yourself. It could be related to hobbies, skills, academics, relationships, service, etc. As you recognize your strengths, add them to your diagram. Review them when you are feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, or need a personal boost!
