South Bedfordshire District Council Sustainable Development Services Away Day Transport Strategy performance update Manouchehr Nahvi Tuesday 8 th April 2008 Ashridge Business Centre

Priorities and Objectives Ensure that maximum pressure is applied to have essential transport infrastructure in place at an appropriate time before, or during, the construction of any large scale development. Ensure that the location of all Growth Points are suitable in terms of their connectivity to large urban areas, major zones of employment, retail/leisure facilities and the existing road and rail network Encourage developers to provide a variety of employment opportunities and other community facilities (such as schools, health centre etc) on sites to reduce the need to travel. Continue to liase with all the relevant transport authorities to promote the interest of the District. Work towards the smooth transfer of transport strategy matters to the new Central Bedfordshire Unitary Council.
