Be SMART and TRUSTWORTHY Theme of the year — Be SMART and TRUSTWORTHY
Imagine what the situation will be… Without a goal
Set S.M.A.R.T. Goal Specific Measurable Attainable Realistic Timely
Set Specific Goal To set a specific goal you must answer the six “W” questions: *Who: Who is involved? *What: What do I want to accomplish? *Where: Identify a location. *When: Establish a time frame. *Which: Identify requirements and constraints. *Why: Specific reasons, purpose or benefits of accomplishing the goal.
Use Study as an example General Goal: Achieve good result in this year Specific Goal: *Who: I, My parents, My teachers… *What: 65%, 70%, 80% *Where: Study room, Library, Outside staff room *When: 4-5pm every day *Which: Textbook, Reference books, Exercise *Why: Be admitted by my dream university
Hymn #19 Change my heart, O God
Set Measurable Goal Measurable - Establish concrete criteria for measuring progress toward the attainment of each goal you set. Think Big Start Small
Use Project Work as an example 1.How many steps do I have to accomplish for a project? 2.How much time do I have for each step? 3.How do I know the step is accomplished and I can proceed to another step?
Set Attainable Goal Attainable – Consider your attitudes, abilities, skills, and financial capacity when you identify goals Tyrone (5’3”) of Charlotte Hornets
Set Attainable Goal Attitude – Are you enthusiastic to attend your goal? Abilities – Are your abilities fit the goal that you set? Skills – Are you skilful enough? Financial Capacity – Do your goals require financial support?
Example: I want to own a cake shop Attitude – How enthusiastic you are? Abilities – Do you have the knowledge of running a business? Skills – Do you have the skills of hiring people, finance management and etc.? Financial Capacity – Do you have the financial capacity to start a business?
Hymn #19 I know who holds the future
Set Realistic Goal Realistic- A goal can be both high and realistic; you are the only one who can decide just how high your goal should be. But be sure that every goal represents substantial progress.
High goal vs Low goal A high goal is frequently easier to reach than a low one Because a low goal exerts low motivational force Realistic or not depends on your willingness and ability
Set Timely Goal Timely – A goal should be grounded within a time frame. With no time frame tied to it there’s no sense of urgency. ALSO Timely – A goal that is appropriate for the time being.
Some day vs Specific date I have to finish reading this book some day Vs I have to finish reading this book by the end of this month for the book report writing
Example I want to be a pilot (Specific) Now (Unrealistic) Some day (Without time frame) After my graduation in the university (Attainable) I have to study Physics and get good result in the DSE (Measurable / Attainable) I have to collect information about this career before university (Measurable) I have to choose Aviation in the university (Attainable)
