ICT II Classroom Procedures

Start of Class

Personal Belongings ALL bags – purses, book bags, makeup bags, tote bags, food and drink items, etc. MUST be placed on the bookbag drop tables in the front corners of the room. No items not needed for this class should be taken from this location during class without teacher permission.

Bring to your workstation: Your folder Pencil Headphones (when allowed) (REMEMBER! You are to be IN YOUR SEAT when the bell rings.)

Check your workstations Report any problems to the instructor IMMEDIATELY.

Log onto your computer… Log onto your computer Log into Canvas Launch your keyboarding (Micropace) program or other current application, when applicable …within the first five minutes following the tardy bell.

Checking If time allows… (when all logins are completed from previous slide...) You may check your school account during the first five minutes of class ONLY.

After the five-minute period… Be quietly seated, logged in, and ready to begin working. Quietly begin keyboarding lesson or other assignment as instructed in the Daily Agenda

If you are tardy YOU ARE TARDY IF YOU ARE NOT IN YOUR SEAT WHEN THE BELL RINGS Don’t argue, simply go to the sign-in notebook and sign the Tardy List.

Leaving the Room

Bathroom/Water  Students must use the Hall Pass to leave the room following the guidelines discussed below:  No bathroom visits may be requested during the first ten minutes or last ten minutes of class.  No bathrooom visits may be requested during notes instruction/discussions, timed activities, or tests.  Except in the case of illness or other extenuating circumstances, students will limit bathroom visits to a maximum of five minutes.  Students exiting to use the bathroom will go directly to and from the restroom (no detours).

Leaving the Classroom Teacher permission is required Hall Pass insert must be filled out completely before leaving the room. Take the Hall pass directly to and from the specified location. Write down return time on Hall Pass insert when you come back into the classroom

Completing and Submitting Assignments

Due Dates All work is expected to be submitted on time. Points may be deducted for late work.

Submit through Canvas Work that is not properly submitted through the online course site will have points deducted. Be sure to attach the correct file under the appropriate assignment link BEFORE you click the Submit button. You will lose points on the assignment if it has to be resubmitted at teacher request.

Classroom Printing  ICT II printers are for ICT II assignments ONLY. The school library sells printouts for other classes.  Be sure to proofread your documents before printing. Print Preview your work BEFORE you print to check for proper footer, spacing, and to take out any extra blank pages at the end of your documents.  You may print ONLY one copy of each assignment. Additional copies cost BIG points!)

Talking during class… Permitted during specified times - Instructor will specify. Peer helping is permitted at times permitted by the teacher One question, one person, one minute

Helping others… “Hands-off” help only – tell (teach) them how, don’t do it for them. Document will be deleted if helper does the work. The student will have to start over. You may “assist” or “guide”, not operate his/her keyboard or mouse.

Personal headsets… May be used to listen to music from the ICT II server ONLY! Absolutely no CDs, Internet streaming, iPods, etc. There is no “one more chance” policy. Mess up, you lose the privilege permanently. Music must be set up during first five minutes, only used during “work” times, and cannot interfere with class work.

Surfing the Internet Absolutely NO surfing the Internet, playing computer games, or checking without instructor permission.

Interruptions - Intercom If an announcement is being made: STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING and listen. DO NOT TALK while morning / afternoon announcements are being made – this is disrespectful to the teacher, the announcer, and other students. Do not respond out loud to intercom communications unless specifically requested by announcer or teacher.

Sanitize… Please take extra precautions to sanitize your hands and work area when you have cold symptoms or are not feeling well. Sanitizing wipes are available to clean your keyboard and work area before you begin working each day to help protect yourself from germs, or before dismissal to protect the next computer user if you are “germy”.

Going to Lunch

Trip to Cafeteria When instructed to do so, gather your lunch or lunch money, sanitize your hands with Germ-X, and line up quietly along the wall outside the classroom door and wait for directions. Proceed in single file line against the right-hand wall. If this is not followed, we will return to the classroom and try again. Bathroom privilege may be cancelled for the day, or lunch time may be shortened by five minutes. Stay together and move quietly in the hallway.

While in the Cafeteria We will enter the lunch room together, stay quietly in lunch line, and sit at the assigned table ONLY. No wandering around. NO, you may not sit with anyone else at another table, and NO, no one can sit with you. You have only one chance to get lunch – once you sit at the table, you MAY NOT return to the line. Get all of your lunch the first time.

Leaving the Cafeteria When instructed, stand quietly and gather your trash to take to the trash cans. If trash remains on the table, we will stand there and wait for owner to pick it up. When all trash has been picked up from the table, the teacher will give the signal to take it to the trash cans. Deposit trash in the appropriate cans, line up along the wall by the windows or near the stage as indicated by the teacher. STAND QUIETLY and await instructions to leave the cafeteria.

Leaving the Cafeteria When all are in line, we will quietly, in single file, proceed to the bathroom. When stopping at the restroom, line up quietly on the wall across from bathrooms – if you need to use it. Teacher will choose three guys and girls at a time to enter the restroom, When finished, line up on the right-hand wall directly past pod entrance / restrooms. This will soon “eat up” (HA! Get it??) our class time, so hurry!

The End of Class

Preparing for the Dismissal Bell When directed, log out of all computer programs. Restart computers PROPERLY! (Do not use the Power button!)

Organize Your Workstation keyboards up, monitors down, mice neatly back out of the way binders closed any other materials returned and put away

Clean Your Work Area Clean the area on, around, AND under your workstation; pick up debris Throw away all trash on your way to get your bookbags after dismissal.

Dismissal The bell does not dismiss you, the teacher does! Do not get up out of your chair until told to do so. When directed, stand, push in your chair neatly, get your book bags and other items, and exit the room quietly.

Returning After an Absence

Makeup Work is YOUR Responsibility Check the day’s Daily Agenda and the Grades area while you are out or upon your return to see what you have missed. Due dates are included in the Daily Agenda and grade book.
