Objective: You will select art elements and apply design principles in order to achieve the desired compositional effect. DRILL: 1.Title the next page in your sketchbook: “EMPHASIS” 2.Take the picture from the corner of your table. 3.(You need colored pencils and glue.) Use color to emphasize one object in the still life picture.

Why not in the middle? Use COMPOSITION techniques- Size, view, or placement?

Contrast means opposites that makes other objects stand out. Also means difference. How does the red apple CONTRAST from the rest? How is the red apple emphasized? Why does it stand out?

Contour lines, ellipses, and angles. 4.Shading makes objects look 3D. 5.Background and entire picture is complete.

Goals for today: 1.Finish drawing your objects. 2.Add color to emphasize an object. 3.Hang a few on the board at the end of class that show emphasis.
