B IOLOGICAL I NFORMATION Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dali I Domenech was born in Figuere, Spain, on May 11, 1904 and died on january 23, He attended the San Fernando Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid.

H IS A RT C AREER He was then became internationally known for 3 of his paintings including: The Basket of Bread Most of Dali’s paintings reflected his love for his home town. The first recognition of his talent was on his 1 st one-man show in Barcelona, 1925

S URREALISM Dali then became a leader of the Surrealist movement. His painting: The Persistence of Memory is one of the best known surrealist paintings. But then had to move because of the on-going war.

Dali then moved from Surrealism and decided to paint his series of large canvases. Some of them are: The hallucinogenic Toreador The Discovery of America by Christopher Columbus The sacrament of the Last Supper.

Oil on canvas Complete in 1955 It took 9 months to paint it. It is now in the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. A surrealist painting, with the classic Christian theme. The Sacrament of the Last Supper

T HE S ACRAMENT OF THE L AST S UPPER Like the what the title says, the painting shows the Evening of the Last Supper, with Jesus and his 12 disciples. But in this picture you can also see the soul of Jesus as he is reciting the Sacrament. You can see some emphasis in the middle. Especially because the color yellow makes it stand out. Salvador Dali used a lot of brown based colors and some whites and other colors. I think he used these colors because the colors are normally associated with the Christianity and make the painting look as if being in a chapel or church. There is also balance in this picture. You can see that everything id symmetrical.
