The Nightmarys by Dan Poblocki PowerPointby Gracie Pillow

Summary of the Book  The Nightmarys is a horror story written by the Goodreads Author; Dan Poblocki. The main character is a 6 th grade boy named Timothy July. When a new girl comes to school, they get partnered to go to a museum. In that museum, Timothy’s life will take a huge turn.

Beginning  It all starts out in his science class. Timothy thinks the creatures in the specimen jars are watching him. He then hears a clicking noise, which he thinks is the creatures in the jars trying to crawl out. It’s actually Abigail, the new student trying to light her foot on fire. When Timothy’s teacher asked who wanted to be Abigail’s partner, Timothy scratched his ear but the teacher mistakes it that he wants to be partners with Abigail.

At The Museum  At the museum, they look at a magical jawbone that curses people the controller says to. The jawbone is powered by a tooth that is charged with spirits. The spirits haunt the victim and make him/her cower at every little shadow. When Timothy and Abigail are looking at the ‘Edge of Doom’ painting, Stuart, Timothy’s friend throws a water balloon at them, making Abigail run into an Employee Only section which triggers all the things that are about to happen.

The Book  Timothy runs after Abigail who is scrunched up behind a bookcase. Beside the bookcase, is a book which practically changes Timothy’s life. The book is a mystery book about a girl who is kidnapped and her friend tries to find her. The kidnapper is non other than Hessileus, the town’s used to be hero until he turned evil. Timothy then senses a man watching him, he is right. And that man happens to be Hessileus’ son; Jonathan who is angry that Timothy stole his father’s book and wants revenge.

Mary White and Mary Brown  Revenge being telling the magical jawbone (Which Jonathan has) to haunt Timothy and Abigail with two ghost girls; The Nightmarys or Mary White and Mary Brown. They bring fear to life. For example, if you were afraid that they would kill you, they would try their hardest to kill you. Timothy and Abigail then go on a journey to find Jonathan and destroy the jawbone. They fail the first time and get trapped in Jonathan’s attic. When they manage to get out, Jonathan is gone. But they once again find him at the lighthouse where he locks Abigail in the dungeon with The Nightmarys.

The Ending  The ending is like any other ending; The good guys win. When Jonathan told The Nightmarys to charge the tooth with Timothy’s and Abigail’s souls, The Nightmarys use his instead because he trapped them and forced them to do everything he told them to. Like slaves.

Should You Read It?  Should you read it? Yes! It’s really a good book and if you love mysteries, horror, and adventure books, you will love The Nightmarys! I give it a 9/10!
