 First Draft: Topic Sentence: “Have you ever wondered how snow forms?” Add details: Have you ever wondered why it snows? It all begins with cold air and cold clouds. Clouds have water in them. The water comes from lakes and rivers. The water rises up and changes to a gas. For the water to freeze, the air in the clouds must be very cold. When the water freezes, it becomes small bits of ice. The ice bits clump together. When they get heavy enough and the air is cold enough, it snows!

Topic Sentence: Do you like to chill in the winter? Detail 1: In the winter I like to read by the fireplace. My favorite book is Twilight. Detail 2: When it snows I zip and zoom down the front hill on my red shiny sled. Detail 3: After that I mope inside and get cozy with a cup of warm hot chocolate.
