The City of De La Salle supports the De La Salle Holiday Giving Drive

Chicago Food Depository Close to 500,000 people each year rely on emergency and supplemental food provided by the Food Depository and its member network of almost 600 food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters

Chicago Food Depository 39% of the households who receive food from the Food Depository include at least one employed adult 33 % of the people the Food Depository serves are children under 18

Chicago Food Depository 10 % of recipients were 65 and older 9 % of clients are homeless

St. James Food Pantry In 2005, the Food Pantry serviced an average of 600 households per month In 2006, the Food Pantry serviced an average of 822 households per month

St. James Food Pantry In 2005, the Food Pantry serviced an average of 1,480 individuals per month In 2006, the Food Pantry serviced an average of 1,881 individuals per month

De La Salle helps supply St. James

Last winter, Chicago experienced 32 consecutive days of snow

With an average temperature of 19 degrees

And an average low of -11 degrees

Did you have a warm coat? Did you have shelter?

Many people did not!

In fact, approximately 21,000 Chicagoans were homeless on a typical night And almost half of them were CHILDREN And almost half of them were CHILDREN!

But, this winter, Meteor light will shine And the Meteor light will provide warmth

Won’t you shine YOUR Meteor light?

Donate your warm coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and sweaters

And let your light shine… For the world!

Homerooms with Outstanding Effort At each campus, the top homerooms will be awarded a catered lunch. Top performing homerooms will eat together in a special VIP section of the Commons, complete with table cloths, centerpieces, etc.
