Any ethical issues from ICTD discussions?

Ethics and laws haven’t kept up with technology  We should think about what this means  Programming is power – must be responsible

Topics  Privacy  The privacy act of 1974 says the FBI can’t get your IRS data without a reason… but they can buy it from Axcient  Intellectual Property  Apple won a suit against Samsung for infringing on patents including rounded corners – 1B damages  Security  Your car’s internal computer can be hacked

Topics  Replacing peoples’ decisions with computers’ decisions?  Driverless cars  Medical diagnosis systems  Hacking and identity theft  Critical systems  Autopilots, etc  What is the programmer’s responsibility in all of this?
