ND280  - Analysis SMRD related Analysis Activities Jarek Nowak, Thomas Kutter LSU USB280 Meeting, SUNY August 15, 2008

SMRD related activities Construct, test and improve fitters Study SMRD event topologies/responses – Cosmic rays – Beam related events  Develop tools and basis required to do  related analysis

Fitters 1)Hough transform based fitter 2)Linear fitter  Both produce reasonable output Todo: Study performance of fitters  compare, improve, optimize

Matching with other subdetectors Using the matching TPC and SMRD isolated reconstruction example: development of code to match the SMRD reconstruction results with other detectors in progress. Match hits, which were not used in the reconstruction with track from inner subdetectors.

SMRD reconstruction status The SMRD hits are combined to the combo hits – Combo hit: MPPCs on both ends of fiber see hit The position resolution in all x,y and z are at the same level W. Metcalf – cosmic muons

Numu CC analysis Several closed meeting – discussion on the topics and task for the numu CC analysis for the Physics Book Open meeting for the collaboration members interested in contributing to the analysis Draft outline of the ND280 Physics Book : 20Outline The analysis will be focused on the topology of the events

Goals for the numu group Prediction of flux in far detector using information from ND280, INGRID and beam information Study of numu CC interactions: neutrino-nucleon, nuclear effects 3 levels of the analysis – True MC analysis – identification of limits from physics – Cheating true MC analysis – understand ultimate performance – Reconstructed MC analysis – top level of the analysis Each level of the analysis will be done for – 1 st year configuration – detector and beam – Full configuration

Outline of the CC analysis Introduction (Yokoyama) Expected neutrino interactions and event topologies (Sanchez) Analysis of event topologies (Cervera) CCQE events (Lindner) CC1pi events (Nowak) P0D Analysis (Berger, Wilson) Deliverbles for oscillation analysis from the CC-numu alanysis (Sanchez, Nowak) Prediction of number of interaction in SK from the ND280 (Yokoyama) Detectors requirements and related systematics (representative from each subdetector)

Status We have – There is an old event topology analysis (Sanchez) which will be revitalized – Cheating analysis for CCQE and CC1pi – There is an analysis of the flux and CCQE in the Ingrid – Reconstruction at various stages Todo list (near future) – Detail true and cheating MC analysis focused on the event topology – All developed analysis tool should be integrated with the nd280mc
