Building Better Support for Carers | The Adult Services Stakeholder Conference | 19 November 2013 Question 11: There are a number of issues for people who receive Domiciliary Care: – lack of consistency in who comes into a person’s home to provide the care, which can be especially upsetting especially for people with dementia; – care not being provided at a time which is suitable for individuals and there is no flexibility to change the times of visits, when needing to go to a hospital appointment early in the morning for example; – the inexperience of the care worker which can lead to distressing situations for the care worker due to the conditions a person may have; – care workers not allowing people to carry out tasks they are capable of doing; – care workers not staying for the full time allocated for the care – bullying of the person being cared for.
