Pronoun Review – DO NOW 24 Sept Ex: Wrong: Heidi called Kyle to ask Kyle if Kyle could meet Heidi at the park. (This sentence doesn't make sense - no pronouns.) Ex: Correct: Heidi called Kyle to ask him if he could meet her at the park. (Substitutes the pronouns him and he for Kyle, and her for Heidi.) Copy each sentence. PREFIX A word part placed at the beginning of a word that has a meaning. Re- again/back Ex.- Reread, redo, replay, rewind. Some prefixes are within each other, like: de is in dem, they are different, be careful!!

COMPOUND PREFIX Two or more prefixes at the beginning of a word. Ex.- Unrelenting

SUFFIX A word part placed at the end of a word that affects the word’s meaning or is a part of speech. Ex.- able Word= Lovable Inflectional suffixes: s, es,’s, s’, ed, en, ing, er, est (they relate to the part of speech).

COMPOUND SUFFIXES Two or more suffixes at the end of a word. Ex: helplessness What are the two suffixes? Antidisestablishmentarianism. Break it apart, find the meaning.

ROOT A word part with meaning placed at the beginning, middle, or end of a word. It can be the whole word. It gives the word its main meaning. Aster = star
