How? Cornell notes get students to process notes THREE DIFFERENT times!! Recall the Forgetting Curve.
Why should WE learn how? “When used appropriately, students are GUARANTEED to increase their knowledge and raise their grades in ANY given class.”
Recall STAR 3
S = Set up your paper
T = Take Notes Write notes on the right side of the page. -Abbreviate and Paraphrase -Skip at least one to two lines between each idea.
A = Apply your Thinking Within 24 hours of taking your notes, review your notes and write questions on the left side of page.
R = Reflect on Notes Within 24 hours, add a summary to your notes at the bottom half of the paper.
R = Revise the Notes Compare notes with classmates or textbook for items you might have missed.
R = Review Notes Fold your notes so that the questions show; Quiz yourself
