OR SHOULD WE…….  SOCIETY SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE THAT EACH PERSON HAS POTENTIAL AND THAT THE SPORTS SYSTEM SHOULD HELP EVERYONE FULFIL THIS OBJECTIVE. PROBLEMS:  VERY EXPENSIVE  WILL NOT LEAD TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF TALENT AND THERFORE NATIONAL SUCCESS.  IS ELITISM UNFAIR? WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES?

THE UNITED KINGDOM SPORTS INSTITUTE  A network of satellite centres giving practical support to the top UK’s sportsman  There are four Home County Sports institutes, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland  They provide support for training, nutrition, career advice, sports injury advice etc.  Supported by the National Lottery and Government  They give the best chance to those who have the potential for sporting success

DEVOLVED INSTITUTES..  All four devolved institutes provide support  THE ENGLISH INSTITUTE OF SPORT (EIS)  THE SPORTS INSTITUTE NORTHERN IRELAND (SINI)  THE SCOTTISH INSTITUTE OF SPORT (SIS)  THE WELSH INSTITUTE OF SPORT

HOME COUNTRY ORGANISATIONS  SPORT ENGLAND  RESPONSIBLE FOR COMMUNITY SPORT IN ENGLAND  IT WANTS TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE INVOLVED IN SPORT  ENCOURAGE EXERCISE 3 TIMES A WEEK FOR 30 MIN.  ENCOURAGE PUPILS THAT WHEN THEY LEAVE SCHOOL THEY NEED TO STAY IN SPORT  IT INVESTS, ADVISES AND PROMOTES COMMUNITY SPORT FOR ALL  TARGETS PRIORITY GROUPS, SUCH AS DISABILITY GROUPS  SUPPORTED GOVERNMENTS TARGET OF 2 HOURS PER WEEK IN SCHOOLS  PROMOTES VOLUNTEERING COACHING  WORKS CLOSELY WITH NGBs  HELPS DEVELOP SCHOOL/CLUB LINKS
