The Origins of the Problems

The Origins of the Problems I’m a huge believer in centralized management of – The device – The OS – The applications – User’s environment My ultimate goal is to make the end- users life easier through IT but NOT at the cost of additional IT pain and hard costs. ©Copyright 2005, DABCC, Inc. All Rights Reserved. The Origins of the Problems I like to create the analogy between this type of management philosophy and a TVs philosophy. – Turn it on and there are the channels. – I’ve been all over the world and the experience is the same – I don’t know nor do I need to know anything that is going on in the background as it does not pertain to my task as an end-user. Why can’t we compute this way too? The Origins of the Problems To summarize: – We have a problem supporting the end-user. – We need a solution to tie the environment together, but one that does it by putting the end-user first To summarize: – We have a problem supporting the end-user. – We need a solution to tie the environment together, but one that does it by putting the end-user first

Management Solutions

Management Solutions In most organizations: – End-users find themselves computing through numerous devices from many different locations – Their world consists of an office or cubicle that has a desktop computer and some of their applications are delivered through a Terminal Server, some are local to their desktop and some are web based. – When the end-user then leaves their workspace, they pickup a laptop and or compute from their home computer or a kiosk All provide a similar but different experience In most organizations: – End-users find themselves computing through numerous devices from many different locations – Their world consists of an office or cubicle that has a desktop computer and some of their applications are delivered through a Terminal Server, some are local to their desktop and some are web based. – When the end-user then leaves their workspace, they pickup a laptop and or compute from their home computer or a kiosk All provide a similar but different experience
