Welcome to ‘Into the Sixth Form Evening’ For entry 2009 By Donna Lodge Director of Post-16 Education

Ashby School  Consistently one of the highest achieving schools in Leicestershire  Has technology and language college specialist status  Supportive environment with outstanding pastoral and academic monitoring.

Ashby Sixth Form  Has witnessed phenomenal improvement in examination performance over the last few years  In 2008 A level pass rate hit 98.5% with 51% of passes being at the top grades of A or B  Simultaneous increase in size of the Sixth Form

Ashby Sixth Form  Was rated ‘outstanding’ in most recent OFSTED inspection  Benefits from a new purpose built sixth form centre- with bistro dining area, patio and WIFI

Sixth Form Qualifications A levels to be made up of 4 units. New specifications taught from  AS (2 units) taken in Y12  A2 ( 2 units) taken in Y13  AS + A2 ( 4 units) = complete A level  NO LIMITS TO NUMBER OF RETAKES OF UNITS

Curriculum  Mainly specialise in AS and A2 level courses  One or two year courses  We offer 40 courses at Advanced level- extensive choice  Most students choose 4 options plus an extension subject  In year 13 students take 3 or 4 A2 Levels

Extension Subjects  Students will be able to choose from the following:  Critical Thinking  General Studies  Extended project Qualification

Entry Requirements To come to Ashby School you need  5 or more A* to C at GCSE level including English and Mathematics.  A successful guidance interview and positive reference.

Where do our students go post 18? In 2008  90% went into Higher Education (including gap year)  10% went into Employment
