2 Today, we’ll look at Requirements Online Materials Tools Lexiles, REAL News Presidential Awards, Oregon’s Literacy Plan, Diploma Requirements, America’s Lab Report, Science Teacher Listserv

3 Academic Content Standards Define what students are expected to know and be able to do ( Science Teaching and Learning to Standards, p 12, 136 and 138) Requirements

4 Benchmark Standard In science, a student’s academic progress can be checked at or about grades 3, 5, 8, and 10. ( April Science Standards Review and Revision ) Requirements

7 Requirements Please be aware that U.S. Department of Education requires that Oregon review its performance levels for all grades in the content areas of Mathematics, Reading/Literature and Science. These performance levels will be adopted by the State Board by February, 2007 and will be applied retroactively to all tests administered during the school year. A school may therefore have more students designated as "Not Yet Met" after this review occurs.
